BOLTON accountants and business advisors Cowgills have raised £7,000 for Bolton Hospice with their first Cowgills Charity Golf Day.

The event took place at Bolton Golf Club and involved teams from local businesses.

The hospice was chosen as the firm’s charity of the year in memory of the care given to Adrian Westwell, a partner at the firm who died in 2016.

Cowgills’ partner Rob Lord said: “The golf day was a huge success.

"Not only did we manage to raise money for a wonderful cause, we also used the opportunity to bring many local businesses together to raise awareness for the hospice and we are extremely grateful for their involvement.

"I also have to thank Ian Orrell at Bolton Golf Club for his hospitality and the smooth running of the day.

“We hope to see many of our clients getting involved in future events and, as a firm, we look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts to help the charity to continue its great work.”

Alice Atkinson, director of income generation and communications at the hospice, stated: “We’d like to thank Cowgills for their fantastic support and for choosing to raise vital funds for Bolton Hospice throughout 2018.

“The funds raised will help the hospice to provide expert care and support local people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, either at the hospice or through our Hospice at Home service.”

The golf day is part of a wider programme of fundraising activity for Cowgills.

In November, the firm will be the headline sponsor for The Big Bolton Ball which will see Bolton Hospice and Bolton Lads and Girls Club join forces to celebrate the life-changing work they both do as well as helping to raise funds for both organisations.
