A SHOPPING precinct was closed off after a robbery in Little Lever yesterday.
Police have now confirmed that they were called to Market Street, at about 12.50pm on Monday to reports of a cash-in-transit driver having been robbed.
A scuffle took place between the robber and the victim before a cash box was stolen.
The offender is described as white, around 6ft and wearing dark clothes.
House-to-house enquiries are taking place, while police are also trawling through CCTV from the area.
Four police cars were spotted at the scene yesterday, and one resident reported seeing an emergency services helicopter hover over the area.
An area in front of the Cube Desserts shop was also taped off, but the precinct opened later in the afternoon.
