SHOW support for the hospice this week — Hospice Care Week.

Bolton Hospice is taking part in the national week of awareness and encouraging people to get involved whether donating, volunteering or showing they care on social media.

The theme for the week is Heart my Hospice and people are sharing the hashtag #HeartMyHospice.

Felicity Ransom of Bolton Hospice said: “There are still some common misconceptions about hospice care, such as that it’s only a place to come to die, but hospice care offers so much more than that.

“Bolton Hospice’s consultant-led team can help people from the moment a life-limiting illness is diagnosed and provide expert care for patients with any life-limiting illness throughout their illness, helping to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.”

Each year across the UK more than 200,000 terminally ill people receive hospice care.

Tracey Bleakley, chief executive of Hospice UK, said: "Hospices have a special place in people’s hearts, especially for those who have seen first-hand the incredible care they provide to loved ones.

"We hope that during Hospice Care Week the public will take up the opportunity to show their affection for hospices wholeheartedly."
