A NEW pop-themed nightclub is set to open in the town centre this weekend after a £200,000 revamp.

Popworld prides itself on offering the biggest hits from the 1990’s and 2000’s, and is set to open its doors on the site of former nightclub Reflex, on Deansgate.

Organisers at the venue are also hoping for a huge opening night after announcing that ‘90s nostalgia icons The Cheeky Girls will perform live at the launch party on Saturday.

The nightclub is owed by the same company, Stonegate, which ran the retro Reflex club before it. The ‘80s bar closed its doors in early September to prepare for an upgrade.

Popworld is well-known brand of nightclubs and the new club will be its 28th branch, with other locations in Manchester, Southampton and London.

Steve Coyle, general manager of the venue and the neighbouring Elephant and Castle pub, explained that he had planned to revamp the club anyway, installing new booths and updating the interior.

“We thought it would be an ideal time to bring Popworld to Bolton,” he said. “This place will have all the hallmarks of a fun night out, as well as being safe and secure for people.”

Jamie Rosenfeld, brand manager at Popworld nationally, added: “We are so excited to bring Popworld to Bolton. We have had such great success over the past few years and are continuing to grow as a brand, throwing unforgettable parties across the UK.

“With this new site we can’t wait to show off what we are all about and provide a great party for everyone in the region.”

The club will host a VIP night tonight, ahead of the grand opening on Saturday.

The opening times following the opening will be: Tuesday: 9pm-3am; Wednesday: 9pm-3am; Friday 9pm-4am; Saturday: 8pm-4am; and Monday, Thursday and Sunday available for private hire.

There are also plans for a thriller-themed Halloween party on Saturday, October 27, the first of a number of seasonal parties that will be held at the venue.

Stonegate, the firm which owns Popworld and used to own Reflex, is also the company behind a raft of the UK's most well-known chains. This includes Slug and Lettuce, Walkabout and Be at One.
