A wedding was evacuated when fire engines were called to a hotel in Bromley Cross.
The fire service were called out at 3:30pm yesterday to reports of smoke coming from an internet server.
The small electrical fire triggered the smoke alarm prompting one fire engine from Bolton North and two from Bolton Central to attend the incident.
Two weddings were taking place at the premises when three fire engines turned up.
Everyone in the main building of the hotel and spa was evacuated, but one wedding was left uninterrupted as it took place in a separate building.
Bolton North Fire Station watch manager Rick Henthorne said: "Three pumps turned out to a small wire burning in the computer room. One of the servers had been smoking off due to an electrical fault."
Wedding guests, hotel visitors and gym goers were able to return to the hotel after 30 minutes.
An electrical engineer was sent to deal with the issue.
Mr Henthorne added: "People should make sure their computers are turned off from the mains."
