THE Old Man and Scythe will be marking the anniversary of the 7th Earl of Derby’s execution which took place in 1651 outside the pub’s doors.
Alongside their regular Cider ‘ouse Jam Nite, there will be performances of songs and poetry from the time of and about the English Civil War on Wednesday.
The Sealed Knot re-enactment society will also be coming along in full costume and award-winning morris men will be dancing in the street.
Local historian Dave Burnham has written a script for a theatrical dialogue that a few actors will deliver.
The free event will start outside the Churchgate pub at 5.30pm with the open mic session scheduled for 7pm.
