PRIMARY school children are benefitting from new outdoor learning materials thanks to a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Radcliffe.

Wesley Methodist Primary School was handed £300 to contribute to the cost of a new shed and several sapling trees for their Forest School sessions, run by teaching assistant Sarah Seal.

The storage space will be used to house pupils' wellington boots, dry clothes and other general gardenware. It comes after the school's former storage solutions were broken into.

Diana Cleary, chairwoman of the Rotary Club's youth and vocational committee, went to visit the school on Tuesday.

She said: "It is fantastic to be able to add to the Forest School. It is unbelievable how happy the children were.

"They were collecting bugs and slugs. They have stories around the fire. They were also due to toast marshmallows."
