AUDIENCES set sail on a South Pacific adventure with a little help form Adlington and Music Arts Society.

The hit musical, famed for its score including "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair" was performed by the society in October 1981.

Pictured centre is Carole Morgan, who played Nellie Forbush, from Arkansas, a navy nurser who falls in love with wealthy Frenchman and plantation owner Emile De Becque.

The production is set during World War 11.

For a week audiences escaped the cold as winter fell in Bolton to enjoy the sunshine of the South Pacific to watch the romance between the two unfold on stage.

South Pacific premiered in 1949 on Broadway and was an immediate hit, running for 1,925 performances.
