AN overturned lorry is causing congestion on the M60 during this morning's rush hours.

Drivers on the busy motorway are experiencing delays in both directions because of the incident.

The clockwise entry slip road is closed and traffic is queueing around junction 16, A666 Manchester Road.

The congestion is backed up Manchester Road at least to the Kearsley area as motorists struggle to get on the motorway.

Junction 16s sliproad has been shut since about 3.15am this morning and is likely to remain closed throughout rush hour and traffic on the M60 around there is not expected to return to normal until after noon.

Drivers on the M60 travelling anti-clockwise are also experiencing delays during their morning commute especially around Simister Island, junction 18.
