AFTER looking at how house prices have chanced across Bolton over the past 20 years, today we look at the most expensive residential properties ever sold in the area. SEAMUS MCDONNELL reports.

THE most expensive single home sold in Bolton in the past 20 years cost £2.25 million.

According to data from HM Land Registry, the home, built by former footballer Gary Neville, in 1999 cost nearly £400,000 more than the next most expensive when it was sold in July, 2010.

Now, online property retailer Zoopla estimates the Bromley Cross property, which includes a heated indoor pool complex, five-hole pitch and putt golf course and all-weather tennis court, is worth as much as £2.76 million.

In a 30-acre setting, it tops the list of the 10 most-costly residential properties in Bolton, followed by an £1.85 million home in Tower Drive, Turton, which sold in March 2016, and a £1.5 million six-bed house in Victoria Road, Heaton, which was sold in January, 2018.

Victoria Road is one of two streets that appear on the list more than once. The other is St Andrews Road, at the back of Regent Park Golf Club, which is the location of three properties costing between £1.3 and £1.4 million.

The second Victoria Road home went for £1.35 million when it was bought in July of this year. While the list stretches back to homes sold since 1998, it is notable that the majority of the most expensive properties were sold within the past five years because of the general increase in house prices.

However, in terms of estimated cost in modern terms, the most expensive home was last sold in October, 2006. Another in Victoria Road, this detached home went for £1.2 million, but the worth of the property, with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, is now thought to be as high as £4 million.
