GOGGLEBOX star Sandra Martin is bringing her sparkling personality to Bolton – oh yes she is!

The grandma who rose to fame on the hit Channel 4 series is starring in the magical fairytale The Snow Queen, which opens at the Albert Halls tomorrow.

Playing The Enchantress of the Ice, she will star alongside Shameless TV star Warren Donnelly, who plays Jack Frost in the feel good family musical adventure based on the much loved children’s story which inspired the Disney Film Frozen.

Sandra, aged 56, from Brixton, South London, said: “I’m so excited to be doing pantomime with Joseph Purdy Productions, it’s such a great show and I’ve loved every minute of the rehearsals, we’ve had some great laughs and I’m sure you’ll see on stage the fun we’ve had! You get me babes!”

She added: “Before I was a full time grandma, now this is my second panto. When your famous that’s what happens you get these jobs and I’m having the best time.

“I never thought I would ever be in panto or famous and it’s beautiful, everyday I get stopped — it’s become my fulltime job having selfies taken! I’m very excited, I’ve got goose pimples.

“You will see the Gogglebox Sandra being myself. I’ve sat down on the sofa for four and half years eating, watching television and doing this now is a dream and I feel different when I’m in costume and I get into character. It’s going to be funny if I don’t remember my lines I will say to the audience — ‘you get me babe!’”

Audiences join Megan Wright as The Snow Queen, Tamara Scherwitzel as her sister Princess Honour, Troy Harris as their friend Silly Snowy and Oliver Murphy as Prince Ronald in the adventure.

And with the help of the enchantress of the ice, the cast battle the evil Jack Frost to break the ice spell on The Snow Queen and the curse of the perpetual winter.

Warren aid: “The audience can expect a really good fun family pantomime, which has goodies, baddies, heroics, songs, dance routines and audience participation.Part of the fun in performing in pantomime is the interaction with the audience and you find the little kids like it and all the big grown up kids like it as well.

“There is nothing quite like pantomime.

“I like doing things that are live there is nothing like working for a live audience it keeps you fresh, keeps you are on your toes, keeps the adrenaline going. It is very unique pantomime, it’s not like anything else you are going to do as an actor

“The first pantomime I saw in 1974 or 1975, and as a little boy I was fascinated by it so I think pantomime might have been an influence on what I chose as a career.

“Two hundred years ago in the age of Joseph Grimaldi panto ran all year, it is nothing new this, Panto would go all year round and it wasn’t just a Christmas thing,

“In later years it became a Christmas thing.”

“I think if you have time off with your children why not take them to see something live, experiences something they might not normally experience.

“Children are more sophisticated and savy with computers There is nothing like a good story that is well told in a live setting.”

Producer Joe Purdy added: “We are delighted to be bringing this family favourite to Bolton. We have a hugely talented cast and it’s certainly a show that promises to be a wonderful half term treat for all of the family.” The festive family show promises fantastic costumes, song, dance and a laugh-a-minute script - so book early to avoid disappointment! – perfect viewing for a cold winter night.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism, and Sport, Cllr John Byrne said: “We are delighted to see The Snow Queen musical show on at the Albert Halls. Taking place during the school half-term holidays, it’s the perfect time for a great family treat with laugh out loud comedy, brilliant musical numbers and a fantastic story which will melt the hearts of both young and old. Also, it’s a great opportunity to see the refurbished Albert Halls in their full glory and fight off the blues before the cold and ice creeps in for the winter.”
