AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a man who was found hanged at his home.

Gary Douglas Crompton, aged 46, was found dead in the bedroom of his Allington Court home, in Brocksby Chase, on October 22.

Giving evidence at Bolton Coroner's Court today, police coroner's officer Neil McCaffrey said: "At around 2.30pm on October 22 North West Ambulance Service and police were called to Mr Crompton's home by his ex-partner Nicola Wright, who had been residing with him at the time.

"She had not seen him the previous day and was concerned for his welfare.

"He was known for drug addiction and had a history of epilepsy and mental health. He had previously spoken of self harming."

Mr McCaffrey added: "Ms Wright attempted to revive him but was unsuccessful."

Coroner John Pollard confirmed that a postmortem and toxicology report had been carried out on October 23.

The inquest has been adjourned until March 4.
