A BOLTON MP is one of 16 from Greater Manchester who have appealed to the government to reverse cuts to education.
Sir David Crausby has signed an open letter to Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Damian Hinds, Minister for Education, over school budgets.
The new schools funding formula introduced by the Government last year will reduce the budgets of every primary and high school bar one in Bolton North East says Sir David.
There are concerns that cuts to education could now be even worse than feared as the Government announced a pay rise for teachers without making additional funds available.
Sir David Crausby said: “We cannot underestimate the importance of education. Investing in the future of young people is the best investment our country can make as the positive difference lasts a lifetime. Cuts to schools, colleges and Sure Start centres are cuts to the life chances of Bolton’s young people and the Government needs to use this budget to change course.”
The budget is today at 3.30pm.
