A BUSKER who has been singing in the streets since she was 11 years old is on her way to stardom after landing a place in the final of a top talent show.
Krisshan Weedall, aged 19, is a familiar sight and sound in Bolton town centre entertaining shoppers in Newport Street with a range of pop songs from Adele to Michael Bublé. A regular entrant into reality show auditions Miss Weedall has said “never again” to X Factor and The Voice after making the final of the Mecca Star competition.
Miss Weedall, from Plodder Lane, Farnworth, was selected from hundreds of hopefuls to be one of just six finalists in the competition run by Mecca Bingo and is in with a chance of winning £2,500. She said: “I didn’t think I was going to get through - the competition was really tough.”
Prior to entering the Mecca Star competition Miss Weedall has taken part in dozens of reality TV shows but hasn't made it to the televised rounds.
She said: “You get through a few rounds but you don’t get through to the judges or TV. It’s all in front of the producers.”
When asked why she keeps going back she said: “I’m never going to give up what I like doing. If you get through to TV you get a chance for people to see you.”
The young singer who has had little in the way of formal training has been wowing audiences since she was just 11. She said: “We were doing a carboot sale outside my house and no one was buying anything. My dad said ‘just get the karaoke machine out and start singing’ and we made more money off that than the carboot!”
Her singing career soon took off and she was soon performing on the streets of Bolton and Manchester.
One of her favourite performances was when she was still just 11 in Market Street, Manchester.
“When I first started I had massive crowds and everyone came around as it was something new," she said. "People started crying.”
Her dad said the crowd was so big she had to stop and move because she was blocking the street.
Her busking helps advertise her work as wedding singer, which she travels all around the country for with the help of dad’s taxi.
