POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a car crashed into a central reservation near Horwich.
A Vauxhall Astra collided with the traffic island in the centre of Chorley New Road on Sunday night, and the driver then made off towards Horwich.
Greater Manchester Police's Traffic division has urged anyone who witnessed the incident at about 6pm to contact them.
They said in a tweet: "The driver of this Vauxhall Astra collided with the central traffic island in Chorley New Road, Horwich.
"I'm not sure how he managed to crash on a straight road with no one near him, and I won't find out anytime soon. He ran off prior to police arrival."
