Children in Need 2018 is held this Friday and Bolton will be dressing up and holding all kinds of fundraising events throughout the day from bake offs and tea parties to sponsored challenges and duck race sweepstakes. The charity fundraiser has earned more than £972m for good causes since it was first held in 1980 and organisers are optimistic they can best last year's impressive £60.7m total this time around. The tv extravaganza starts on BBC1 from 7.30pm until 2.00am and will be hosted by Tess Daly, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan, comedian Rob Beckett and pop stars Rochelle and Marvin Humes

As part of Interfaith Week a Multicultural Music Concert is being held at the Walker Suite in the Victoria Hall There will be contributions from community groups from all over Bolton, who are coming together for a night of singing and music. Hell of a Hill marathon, the annual event, dubbed the toughest multi-marathon event in the world, sees runners complete five 26 miles in five days around Rivington and the surrounding areas. Last year total of 38 runners took on the challenge, which begins on Wednesday 14th and finishes Sunday 18th, but only 28 managed to complete the runs. Santa's post box will be at Moss Bank Park on Saturday 17th November. Write your letter to Santa before heading off on a winter walk through the HIVE to find Santa's Post Box. On Saturday 17th November Middlebrook will host their annual Christmas Light switch on and reindeer parade. There will be free fun events for all the family from 12 noon with face painting, glitter tattoos, mince pies giveaways, Stars and Cars appearance from K.I.T.T, Lightening McQueen and Smokey and the Bandit and much more. At 4pm the magical reindeer parade will begin from Next, bringing along a very special guest to help switch on the Christmas lights at 5pm.
