AN ICONIC Bolton fish and chip restaurant is to kickstart the festive season with an evening of thrilling modern jazz.

Olympus on Great Moor Street will combine two of the region's finest articles when they host a new Pasties and Jazz Night on December 16.

The evening will star the Alan Taylor Quartet performing a selection of Christmas favourites, and includes a freshly baked pasty.

It has been organised in collaboration with promoter Dave Morgan, who has been supporting jazz in the town centre for the last two years through community-based arts, culture and heritage group Live from Worktown.

He said: “We were very keen to invite Alan and the band back after their previous successes, but we were stuck for a venue until someone suggested the Olympus. Tasos Pattichis, the owner, was immediately supportive.”

Tickets are priced £10 on the door or £8 in advance from the restaurant, by calling 01204 523 887 or from www.livefromworktown.org.
