AN award-winning hairdresser visited Bolton College to deliver a creative colour masterclass to hairdressing apprentices.

Nikki Clifford, who runs her own salon in Chesterfield and is an expert in hair colour, transformed the hair of two volunteers, Ellie Stake and Molly Magill.

She demonstrated two creative colour techniques and fielded a number of questions from apprentices.

Model Molly said: “I like trying different colours and styles on my hair but this look has to be the brightest and boldest so far. I love it.”

Nikki recently won Gold at the Wella Trend Vision Awards, one of the most prestigious competitions in the UK hairdressing sector, handed out by Big Brother presenter Emma Willis.

Later this month Nikki will travel to Portugal to represent the UK against 42 other countries at the International TrendVision Awards.

She said: “It was fantastic to see how engaged the students were throughout the demo.

“It’s my first time at Bolton College and the apprentices really impressed me.”

Leah Holland-Moore, a Level 2 apprentice working at Northcotes Hair in Chorley, said: “Becoming an apprentice is one of the best things I’ve done.

I’m going to go back to the salon and share the techniques I’ve picked up today with the other stylists.”

Sarah Bleackley, Head of Hairdressing and Barbering at Bolton College said: “I’d like to thank Nikki for visiting our apprentices.

“They work incredibly hard, so it’s important to show that determination and a good work ethic can lead to the level of success that Nikki enjoys.

“We are planning more masterclasses and guest stylists.”

Wella Educator Tanya Rushby arranged the demo in the Academy Training Salon, of the College which merged with the University of Bolton in August.

The Training Salon is a Wella Centre of Excellence and has already hosted a number of industry experts, including celebrity stylist Lee Stafford.
