A DISPLAY of more than 300 hand knitted poppies are on display at St James’ Church to commemorate the end of the First World War.
The poppies were created as part of an initiative by Age Well in Breightmet, a group for over-55s which was set up to reduce loneliness and isolation. The celebrations at the Roscow Avenue church also feature artwork by the 14-year-old grandson of one of the members. The women have now moved on to knitting angels to be left around the community with a Christmas message for people to find and keep.
