RAMSBOTTOM Town A did not have it all their own way against Nomads in the Bolton and District Table Tennis League Premier Division.
They had a comfortable 19-15 win with no players of either side able to achieve maximum points.
This allowed second-placed Flixton Cricket Club A to close the gap as they took all the points in a 27-6 win against Little Lever Cricket Club A.
Both teams are now neck and neck on 190 points.
Ramsbottom Town B hung on to third place despite having an open date.
Fourth-placed Hilton A took their own B team to task in a 25-12 victory which featured a nine from Kieron Beswick.
Fifth-placed Flixton Cricket Club B also enjoyed a dominant night as they beat second-bottom Ladybridge A 25-10 with a nine from Tony Vaughan.
Radcliffe Cricket Club’s room was unavailable due to a function and their match against Wharton has been rearranged for next week.
Division One leaders Burning Desire maintained their impressive form with a maximum-point 27-6 win against mid-table Little Lever Cricket Club B.
Second-placed Wigan TTC also had a comfortable win, as they beat Wingates 23-11 with nines from Paul Clark and Daniel Watkinson.
Polonia Club A moved up into third place after beating Hilton D 17-15 in which their nine-point star was Lukasz Serdiuk.
Fourth-placed Ramsbottom Town D beat Farnworth Social Circle A 19-13 despite a resisting nine from John Hutchinson.
Second-bottom Heaton Cricket Club A turned the tables somewhat on fifth-placed Coburg with a 16-13 victory in which David Hall produced a nine.
Meadow Ben A won 23-14 against a Hilton C team who are just above them in the table, helped by a nine from James Bollard.
Division Two leaders Bolton TTC took bottom team Walkden Methodists to task in a 25-5 romp with nines from Peter McCormick and Nayem Alam.
The result from second-placed Hilton E's game is still to come in, while St Paul’s Peel remain third after a 21-7 win against Farnworth Social Circle B helped by the usual nine from Lee Devenport.
Mid-table teams Ladybridge B and Heaton Cricket Club B drew 18-18 with John Birchall winning nine for Ladybridge.
Third-bottom Brasszone overcame the team one place below them, Hilton F, with a creditable 26-6 win which featured nines from Roger Bertrand and Jim Bolton.
In Division Four, top team Meadow Ben C lost ground as they surprisingly went down 18-10 to fourth-placed Farnworth Social Circle C whose Ben Wyatt won nine.
Meadow Ben D stay second after overcoming ninth-placed Hilton H 19-15 helped by a nine from Philip Calvert.
Meadow Hill A climbed to third by beating second-bottom juniors Hilton I 25-6 with nines from Roy Platt and John Nuttall.
Third-bottom Ladybridge C gave themselves a boost by beating bottom team Meadow Hill B 26-8 assisted by nines from John Hilton and Robin Llewellyn.
Sixth-placed Polonia Club C suffered their third defeat in a row, this time against ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle D whose David Wyatt and Pete Walker both produced nines.
