A NURSERY and pre-school is celebrating after being rated "outstanding" in its latest inspection.

The Beeches Pre School on Beech Drive on Pennington got the highest possible score in all four areas after education regulator Ofsted monitored it.

Its effectiveness of leadership and management, its quality of teaching, learning and assessment, its personal development, behaviour and welfare and children's outcomes were all ranked as "outstanding".

The report said: "Children are thriving and thoroughly enjoy their time at pre-school.

"Staff use accurate observations and incisive assessments to provide for what children need to learn next.

"They promptly identify any gaps in children's progress and promote timely early support when needed.

"The majority of children make rapid progress from their starting points.

"Staff establish superb partnership working with parents. They use their expert knowledge of each child to offer parents enjoyable and imaginative ideas to continue learning at home.

"The ambitious management and passionately committed staff team have high aspirations and expectations of what children can achieve.

"They have an uncompromising drive to make continuous improvements and support each child to have the very best start in life.

"Staff use their expertise to follow children's interests and are highly responsive to their needs, curiosities and capabilities.

"They plan an enabling environment that is rich in resources, opportunities and experiences that stimulate children's play, learning and exploration."

Ofsted visited the pre-school on September 25 and the report was published on October 15.

There are currently 16 children aged between two and four that go to the pre-school.

In a joint statement managers Beverley Grimes and Emma Scarborough said: "We are thrilled at the verbal feedback that Ofsted gave us during their visit and the subsequent report that graded the quality and standards of the early years provision as outstanding in all areas."
