BOLTON MP Chris Green has confirmed he has submitted a letter calling for a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Theresa May.

Following on from the announcement that a draft Brexit deal has been drawn up (585 pages) speculation has been rife that the Prime Minister could face a vote of no confidence, even before she attempts to get the deal through Parliament.

The 1922 Committee, a group of back bench Tories, chaired by Sir Graham Brady, has the power to trigger a no confidence vote in the party leader.

To do this it needs to receive at least 48 letters requesting such a vote.

Bolton West MP Chris Green has confirmed he has submitted his letter. One of an unknown number which have gone in from MPs including leading Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Mr Green tweeted to say: "With a heavy heart, I confirm that I have put my letter in calling for a vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister, Theresa May."

Mr Green elaborated on Twitter to say why he was putting in his letter.

He said: "In the run up to, during and following the 2016 EU Referendum, I held numerous public meetings and spoke with a great many constituents.

"The referendum result and those conversations make it clear to me what the will of the people of Bolton West and Atherton is."

He added: "My constituents want a clean break from the European Union, taking back control of our laws, our borders, our money and our trade.

"The withdrawal proposal from the Prime Minister will not help deliver that result."
