A HIGH school’s sporting facilities have been boosted after a homebuilder has pledged £39,000 to revamp its changing rooms.

Golborne High School will be handed £13,000 for the next three years from Taylor Wimpey Manchester as part of a deal which will benefit its extra-curricular provision.

The company’s Rothwells Farm development is located near to the Lowton Road school.

Head teacher Alison Gormally said: “We know what a positive impact physical exercise can have on both mental and physical health, which is why we’re focused on providing a breadth of sporting activities so every student can find something that suits them.

“With Rothwells Farm so close to the school it seemed like a natural partnership and we could not be more grateful to be working with Taylor Wimpey.

“It will make a real difference to the pupils and hopefully encourage more of them to come down and get active in our after-school sessions.”

Sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester Chloe Dunn added: “We’re always happy to partner with such great causes in the community and know how important it is for children to get and stay active

“Hopefully having lovely new changing rooms will encourage more pupils to attend after school sessions.”
