The Carrs Pasties store at Bolton Market, on Ashburner Street is to close after 23 years of trading.

The family bakery, which has three other stores in Bolton, will shut its doors for the final time at 5pm, on Saturday December 1.

Despite the closure, the shop’s staff won’t be losing their jobs, instead being moved to other shops and departments in the company.

The store has been run by sisters Ann, Margaret and Tina since it opened in 1995. Shop manager, Margaret Bird said: “I have worked in the Market Shop for 23 years and it has never felt like work.

“During this time, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many great people who have now become friends.”

The closure of the Market Shop will enable Carrs Pasties to open until 7pm Monday – Friday in the evenings at its main bakery on Manchester Road which has more parking and space. The new hours start on Monday 3 December 2018.

Pastry lovers will still be able to get their Carrs fix at the shop outside the Market Place Shopping Centre, on Corporation Street , as well as the original shop on Halliwell Road.

Carrs plan to open more stores in the future.
