HARDLY a day goes by that judges and magistrates in Bolton don't deal with dangerous driving offences.
In recent weeks a number of cases have been covered by The Bolton News.
- Hamas Husain was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for a year after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and other motoring offences. He had been using cannabis and crashed his Mitsubishi into railings on Chorley Old Road during a police chase.
- Kelly Sumner will be sentenced in January after admitting seriously injuring cyclist Stephen Derbyshire on Lever Park Avenue, Horwich. She had taken cocaine before driving.
Usaamah Taha was sentenced to 22 months in prison for dangerous driving during a police chase through Bolton. He failed to turn up at court and has been on the run for more than a year.
- Christopher Russ drove a stolen Mini at up to 84mph in a residential area. He was sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders' institution.
- Michael Goodridge is due to be sentenced later this month after admitting dangerous driving next to a children's playground. He was doing donuts and children had to flee out of his way.
- Thomas Humphreys, from Farnworth, was sentenced to one years and eight months in prison after admitting dangerous driving. He had been at a car meet in Trafford Park where teenager Sophie Smith died.
- Part time soldier Wayne Green admitted dangerous driving. He drove at speed through Bolton during a police chase after stealing his mother's car. He was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 12 months and must do 200 hours unpaid work.
- Daniel Naylor crashed a stolen Mini into a Parcel Force van while fleeing police in Bromley Cross. He had to be airlifted to hospital but, a year later committed another dangerous driving offence. He was sentenced to six and a half years in prison for offences including the dangerous driving.
