A POPULAR former music venue will offer commuters a taste of New York and Las Vegas while they wait for their train.

The Railway Pub, next to Bromley Cross station, has its grand opening on Saturday after award-winning Bolton chef Michael Hales' £500,000 refurbishment brought the disused building back to life.

Then, from December, bleary-eyed travellers will be able to get into the pub from 6am where drinks and food will be served throughout the day and boards will show departures.

Rooms inside the venue have been decked out with images from Bolton artist Adam Peker to show Las Vegas, New York, and a subway station.

"When we get on a train we travel to a destination, so we are trying to replicate that and take customers on a journey inside the pub," Mr Hales said.

"We've had a few people preview it and they've been blown away. One person said it was like a Hollywood movie."

The railway will open to the public at noon on Saturday and will continue to operate as a community pub with the venue also offering film shows and dance performances.
