KEARSLEY MOUNT Methodist Church is celebrating the season with a weekend of Christmas cheer.

A brand new Christmas Tree festival will be sprouting at the Manchester Road church on next weekend, appearing on Friday 30 November from 10am to 7pm, Saturday 1st December 10am to 4pm, and Sunday 2nd from 2pm to 6pm.

For £2, visitors will be treated to a host of decorated and lit up festive trees, each sponsored by a local business or group and boasting a creative theme.

Wooly contributions are coming in from Knit and Natter, meanwhile the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat tree is busily being prepared with many colours.

Sunday’s festival will be followed by a carol service, complete with wintry mulled wine and mince pies.

The church may have got a little practice with the scarecrow festival, but the group has not yet been attempted a tree version. Steward Shelia Briggs is looking forward to the change. “It’s been a logistical challenge, but we’ve enjoyed it and we’re hoping it will be a big success,” she said.
