VOLUNTARY service spanning 80 years was celebrated by the community-minded women of Bolton.

Soroptimist International of Bolton marked the special anniversary with a charter dinner. Soroptimists are committed to a world where women and girls together achieve their potential, inspire action and create opportunities.

Soroptimists work in Bolton and abroad supporting a wide range of projects such as volunteering in children's groups, Newstalk, Urban Outreach, women fleeing domestic violence, educating young girls in Nepal, Water Aid and a garden project in Africa as well as raising awareness of sexual exploitation and people

trafficking.

The dinner was attended by the Mayor of Bolton Cllr Elaine Sherrington, the President of

Soroptimists in Bolton Mrs Maureen Barber, the youngest Soroptimist, student Jodie Hughes.
