A SLICE of Saturday Night is billed as "The 60s Musical", an evening of nostalgic reflection for the music.

The music is lively, and the tuneful songs in a range from the wistful I Fancy You to the carnal Wham Bam, Thank You Ma'am. and is very cleverly done with each song evoking memories of a number by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles or other iconic groups and artists of the decade.

Louise Cohen has gathered together another talented cast and crew to take us back in time together with a cracking band and extensive set cleverly designed but Alan Dodd and Simon White. It never fails to surprise me how good these two are at creating the prefect set.

Master of ceremonies is Rubber Legs Eric, well played by Oliver Gaskill who owns the Club A Gogo and throws his weight about onto the club revellers. Rick and Sharon get together, a perfect partnership of Elliot Hogben and Em Cohen.

Gary and Sue come apart with excellent performances from Kenyon Garrish and Amber Amos.

Eddie, well played by Jaime Hall develops his designs on Bridget and Penny. Lucy White as Bridget is wonderful as is Rebecca Royle as Penny.

Billy Currid and Amy Stainton as Shirl are wonderful and perform “Love on our Side” in true Sonny and Cher style. Natasha Weaver as Bang Bang Bertha is a terrific mover too.

The large ensemble supports the main principles with ease and have great stage presence especially as they are on for the entire show. The choreography by Em Cohen is great and really makes you want to get up and shake your tail feather!

If you love the 60s and its music then this production will provide you with an enjoyable evening.
