A window was smashed at a hair salon in Blackrod, only hours after the Sports and Community Centre was targeted in a similar attack.

At approximately 12pm on Monday 26th November, the window of BU Hair and Beauty broken.

A staff member was alerted to the incident after she "heard an almighty crash," while in a room to the back of the property.

However, when she approached the window the perpetrator had vanished, there was also no sign of what caused the window to smash.

Owner Elizabeth Liptrot, 48 from Lostock, was shocked: "It's just completely shattered."

"I just can't believe it happened in broad daylight on a parade of shops."

The incident was reported to Greater Manchester Police but as there were no witnesses, no investigations can be pursued.

Not only was the hair salon in the firing line on Monday, the usually quiet village of Blackrod had its Sports and Community Centre vandalised earlier that day.

Although the two incidents have not been linked, the centre also suffered a broken window.

Just after 10am a wine bottle was thrown at a room hosting a mother and baby massage class. Glass was shattered across the room as seven babies were lying naked.

A mum believed she caught a glimpse of the attacker driving away, describing him as a middle aged man in a white car with a high visibility orange top.

Councillor Ann Cunliffe said: "I hope for the safety of the community the culprit is discovered and appropriate action is taken by police."
