SHE has been winning the nation's hearts on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

But to Bolton's quiz community, Anne Hegerty is better known as a member of Bob Smithy's Monday night team.

The group play in the Bolton Premier Quiz League with Anne scooping the title of Brain of Bolton in 2012, 2013 and 2015.

Talking about her decision to enter the Australian jungle, Anne said: “I was the world’s worst Brownie and Girl Guide and I never did camping."

Anne, 60, who lives in Manchester, is enjoying jungle life alongside stars including Harry Redknapp and Noel Edmonds.

Last night Anne battled through fish guts and a shower of cockroaches in a Bushtucker Trial to bring seven stars back to camp.

Speaking ahead of her stint, she added: “I have always refused to do sugar-free diets but this is part of the deal and so let’s go for it.

“I am pretty sedentary and I spend most of my time sitting on my bum reading things on the internet.

“It will do me good to have to exercise a little bit more.”

Anne has been receiving praise from the public including fellow Chaser Jenny Ryan, from Horwich.

Jenny sent her support to Anne on Twitter, saying: "It's so much more of a challenge for The Governess than you presume."

Anne shot to fame as one of four experts on popular teatime show The Chase, hosted by Bradley Walsh.

Contestants pit their wits against her to try to win cash prizes — but leave with nothing if they are caught.

Anne spoke about living with Asperger's ahead of her arrival in the jungle, insisting that she did not want her fellow celebrities to feel sorry for her.

She said: "I do respond well to structure. I think it will be quite structured in there. I will understand, 'at this time I have to fetch wood and water', doing that will make sense.

"But being surrounded by people I can't get away from, or those who talk all the time, can be a source of stress."

Asperger's can affects a person's social interaction, communication, interests and behaviour, according to the NHS.

According to the NHS around one in every 100 people in the UK is thought to have ASD.

The National Autistic Society said it was "backing @annehegerty all the way on her #imaceleb journey".
