FOLLOWING an attack on a community centre with a wine bottle, CCTV has been donated to increase security.

The window of Blackrod Sports and Community Centre was cracked during a baby and mother massage class.

A father and husband to one of the pairs in the class at the time of the incident has now offered to install a CCTV system for free.

He commented: "My wife and child were in the building at the time. They enjoy going to the classes."

Mr Dawber's company Boxoso Ltd, based in Adlington, installs CCTV commercially.

Mr Dawber highlighted that the donation is for the use of all residents: "It's a benefit to everyone who uses the community centre, it's a well used centre. We're a local company helping out."

There is currently no CCTV system at the centre. Typically the cost of a common CCTV system would be around £1500.

One mum is believed to have caught sight of the culprit, describing him a middle aged man in an orange top driving a white car. However, without further detail, the police will not be investigating.

Mr Dawber's is arranging to install the CCTV soon so his family and others can continue to attend the much-loved class and Blackrod residents can get answers.

He added: "I not only want to make sure people are secure and safe, I want to find out who has done this."

Councillor Ann Cunliffe thanked the father for the generous offer and commented: "It was a shocking and frightening incident and I am pleased all mums and babies were unharmed, even though shaken up."
