THE North-west’s favourite folk group the Houghton Weavers are bringing their own brand of musical Christmas fun back to their home town of Bolton on Wednesday, December 19.

The well-known group of four talented musical entertainers have headed the UK’s folk music scene for more than four decades and will be helping local audiences enjoy the season at Bolton Little Theatre.

"We love this time of year because it gives us the chance to meet our fans and get everyone ready for Christmas," said lead singer Tony Berry, "And what better place than where it all began in Bolton where people really know how to have a good time!"

The four likely lads – Tony, his brother Jim, Steve Millington and David Littler – are as busy and creative today as they ever were. Over the years, they have made more than 30 albums and their iconic songs include perennial favourites like "The Blackpool Belle".

They honed their musical craft in the region’s folk clubs and have enjoyed non-stop success ever since. Their fans are spread worldwide and their concerts are always a feelgood success.

For their special Christmas Tour of 15 dates around the region, they offer a wonderful evening of humour and song to get all ages in the right mood for Christmas. They will include their own festive favourites like "Bless Your Whiskers, Father Christmas" and "What’s Christmas Without A Brass Band" as well as traditional songs like "Mary’s Boy Child."

Added Tony: "We always aim to bring a smile to everyone’s face with our concerts – add to that the magic of Christmas and you really do have a special night out."
