A NURSERY has raised its standards to ensure children are getting a "good" start in life.

Little Angels Nursery, which is based in Crompton Way, has transformed the care and education it gives to youngsters after being rated inadequate by school inspectors in January.

Ofsted has now graded the nursery as good in all areas following a recent inspection.

Inspectors said: "The management team has worked effectively to address weaknesses identified at the previous inspection. The highly qualified manager has high expectations of the staff and coaches them in good practice.

"Managers have a good overview of the progress that different groups of children make. For example, managers have identified that some

toddlers have a slight delay in their speech development. Any delays are identified quickly through accurate assessments and promptly acted upon."

Teaching was said to be good, with children developing good literacy skills, and children attending the nursery were described by inspectors as "happy and well-behaved" and getting the most out of "learning experiences".

Children were described as making good progress.

Ofsted found: "The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good. Staff make observations frequently, accurately assess children's development and plan effectively for their next steps in learning."

Inspectors said that parents feel "well informed" about their children's development.

Staff were said to have a "clear understanding" of their responsibilities to ensure the safety and well-being of children in their care, with premises secure at all times.

Karen Jackson, manager, said: "We are very pleased to announce that we have received our Ofsted inspection grade and we are at 'good'.

"We are an excellent nursery and we push every child to meet there full potential, we have a rich environment full of lovely resources for children to develop in their learning. Ofsted also commented on what a healthy setting we are and this was one of our strong points."

She added: "A massive thank you to the the parents and staff have supported us to help us achieve this goal.

"We provide excellent childcare for children aged six weeks to 11-years and we are looking forward to many years ahead."
