TRADING standards officers are warning people to beware of fishy door-to-door salesmen.
The team has received reports of rogue fish sellers currently operating in other areas in Greater Manchester.
The fishy traders knock on people’s doors, often targeting elderly or vulnerable residents and use intimidating sales techniques.
They pressurise people into buying large amounts of fish and the cost can run to hundreds of pounds.
Trading standards recommend never purchasing anything on your doorstep.
A spokesman said: “Quite often victims are misled about what they will be buying, the quantity and how much it will cost, and the fish is often incorrectly labelled and falsely described. If you come across door-to-door fish sellers or if you see any suspicious cold calling traders then please report them to Trading Standards on 03454 040506. Our advice is never to deal with any cold calling traders.”
