TWO vehicles were seized by police overnight after drivers failed to produce any evidence of insurance cover.

Greater Manchester Police's traffic officers stopped a Volkswagen Golf in Deane Road, Bolton.

The driver told officers he had recently purchased the vehicle and was driving it third-party.

Police tweeted: "The driver said he just bought the vehicle and was driving it third-party because he had fully comprehensive insurance on his other car.

"After checks on three different names and as many addresses, we eventually confirmed the man's identity. The vehicle was seized.

"He can explain to the magistrates his lack of insurance.

"Checks also found him to currently have 19 points on his licence. The driver was reported to court for the offence."

Traffic officers also stopped a Honda Civic in St George's Road, Bolton.

The driver was found to be disqualified from driving and held no insurance.

The vehicle was seized and the driver was summoned to court.
