A TERRIER named Teddy will be taking a starring role in this year's Octagon Theatre pantomime.

Teddy the Cairn Terrier will be playing the famous Toto from the Wizard of Oz, accompanying Dorothy down the yellow brick road.

After a lengthy audition process Teddy, who lives in Bolton, was chosen.

Claire Brownlow Teddy's owner said "We're delighted that Teddy has been cast as Toto in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I always knew he was destined for the stage because he loves attention!

"Teddy is great with children and is very well behaved —if bribed.

"We're really excited to be part of the festive production and Teddy will be receiving a very special Christmas dinner this year."

Teddy will share the role with Young Company members Adam and Sam who play Toto whilst Dorothy is lost in Oz.

The annual festive event will be held in the Premier Suite at the University of Bolton Stadium, while the Octagon Theatre undergoes its extensive multimillion pound renovation.

The production will run from Tuesday, December 4 to Monday, December 31. Tickets can be booked online at octagonbolton.co.uk or over the phone by calling the box office on 01204 520661.
