A MUM has spoken of her shock after a man exposed himself to her and her son while they were walking home from school.

The 25-year-old, who asked not to be named, was walking with her eight-year-old son in Sharples when they heard a man following and shouting at them.

When she turned round the man’s pants were down, exposing his genitals.

The woman said: “I was just really confused and thought what a weirdo – I felt sick. It was weird. You don’t expect it walking home from school with your little boy.”

The pair were walking along Sweetloves Lane on Thursday evening when the incident happened.

The mum said: “I could tell someone was behind me and you could tell he was drunk. He was getting closer and closer and started shouting. I didn’t know what to do.

“I thought, ‘keep walking’ and he was getting louder.

“I turned round and he had his pants down. My little boy didn’t see much.

“Luckily, a man was walking his dog and he basically told him to ‘do one’.”

The victim made her way safely home and called the police and shared details of the incident on social media. She has since removed the post, not wanting to frighten people.

She said: “It doesn’t make it better but I do just think it was a drunk.”

The woman said she was “fine” about the ordeal and that her son has not mentioned it since but she is taking a different route home in future.

She said: “I’ve never had anything like this, it’s always a nice walk home.

“I have been told to maybe walk another way and I think ‘I shouldn’t have to’ it’s my neighbourhood. But, I’m going to walk the other way while it’s dark.”

The victim also contacted her son’s school about the incident.

The school has told parents in its newsletter about the incident warning them and their children to be vigilant."

She described the man as about six feet tall, “scruffy looking” and was wearing a knitted hat and a big coat.

She said she could not understand what he was saying and believed he was shouting in another language.

If you have information about the incident police can be called on 101.
