THE Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester has accused ministers of paying lip service to public safety.
Baroness Bev Hughes has urged Sajid Javid to make good on his promises to support local policing by turning the tide on eight years of cuts.
Earlier this year it was revealed the Bolton force had reduced its staff by 25 per cent due to cuts.
Baroness Hughes said: "We cannot run a police service on empty promises."
She added: ""he Government’s attitude when it comes to fair funding is, quite frankly, shameful and disrespectful."
Mr Javid is expected to deliver the 2019/20 police grant this week.
