THE MANAGER of a newly refurbished pub has pledged to continue to help a local woman in her attempt to support cancer sufferers.

Carol Buckley appeared as a special guest to cut the ribbon outside the new-look Three Pigeons, on Wigan Road, last week, alongside general manager Steven Williams.

Ms Buckley has been fundraising for cancer support organisations and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, since her son Kyle, aged 12, died of a rare muscle tissue cancer in 2017.

The pub and its staff are planning a host of fundraising events and activities in the upcoming months, aiming to raise money and awareness in support of Cancer Research UK.

“We’re so pleased at how brilliant the Three Pigeons looks following the refurbishment, and we were thrilled to have Carol cut the ceremonial ribbon for us," Mr Williams said.

“The Three Pigeons has helped raise money for Carol with the Help Kyle Smile trust fund to help beat cancer. We’ve raised around £1000 so far through charity quiz nights and raffles with prizes that have been donated.

“Bringing the new look Sizzling Pub & Grill to Bolton is really exciting for the whole team. At Sizzling Pub & Grill, we want to offer good food and good value for all our guests, and we’re thrilled to be providing the area with a new dining destination that does that in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere."

Following the refurbishment eight new jobs, including apprenticeship opportunities, have been created in the local area.
