JANE Alexander lost her son in May this year.

She has been struggling with her own mental health since he died and is fighting for fairer mental health services across the country.

Ms Alexander knows first hand how different mental health services can be even just a few miles apart.

She holds up Darwen's at home therapist service as a good service and believes others should follow the same model.

Since her son, Alexander Banerjee, took his own life Ms Alexander says she finds herself without a smile.

She wrote a moving letter to The Bolton News about her experience:

Mum's heartfelt letter after death of her son

My son Alexander Banerjee took his own life on May 13, 2018, 23 years old, suffering for many years with mental health.

After years of trying to get my son to attend therapy he finally made it, he told them he was suicidal and had taken online diazepam for him to be able to get to see them.

Alex never attended the second appointment and on the same day they wrote to him him saying he had been dismissed from the service. Just over a day later Alex took his own life.

Mental health needs to be a priority in funding, too many people are suffering in silence.

I lived for my son and life without him is a daily struggle. I carry deep sadness, emptiness , my smile has gone.

I miss my child,

Jane Alexander.
