THE mother of four children who died in a house fire in Walkden 'is finally starting to grieve', her mother has said.

Michelle Pearson's home on Jackson Street was targeted on December 11 last year.

Children Demi Pearson, aged 15, Brandon, aged eight, Lacie, aged seven, and Lia, aged three all died in the attack while Michelle is still recovering in hospital after suffering severe injuries including serious burns.

Michelle's mother Sandra Lever told the Manchester Evening News her daughter has only just begun to grieve - almost a year on.

Sandra told the newspaper: "She still gets upset. 12 months she's been in here, but she wasn't awake for half of it, so she has only just begun the grieving process.

"We have to remind her everyday because of all the medication. She has now accepted it and has started to grieve."

In September a joint funeral was held for the four children - known as 'Walkden's little angels' by the local community. Michelle was too ill to attend.

Zak Bolland, 23, of Blackleach Drive, Walkden and David Worrall, aged 25, of Worsley Avenue, Walkden were both found guilty of murder in May.

Courtney Brierley, aged 20, of Worsley Avenue, Walkden was found guilty of manslaughter.
