AN ice rink capable of holding 180 people is the centrepiece of Bolton's Winter Festival.

It is the seventh year in a row the ice rink has appeared in Victoria Square and it is likely to be as popular as ever.

How much does it cost? What time does it open? Are young children allowed on?

All these questions and more are answered in this guide:

When does it open? The ice rink is open daily from Saturday December 8 to Sunday January 6.

It is open between 9am and 8.30pm every day.

It is closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day just to allow the hard working staff a couple of days off.

Some sessions are reserved for block bookings so check availability in advance.

How much does it cost?

Adult tickets are priced at £7 with children 14 and under able to skate for £4.

A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £21.

For less confident skaters, ice skating aids are available for £2 per session.

There are also special deals such as Penguin Club which costs a discounted rate.

What is Penguin Club?

Penguin Club is aimed at children aged 8 and under, and offers a safe and fun environment for children and parents.

It takes place every Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 10pm and every day from December 20.
