INDEPENDENT SPAR retailers from Bolton and across the North West have been part of a fact-finding study.
Representatives of James Hall and Co, SPAR’S UK wholesaler for northern England, visited a number of stores, including Baz Jethwa’s store SPAR The Rocket on New Lane, Bolton.
Baz has three stores within the local area and The Rocket opened in 2017, serving more than 7,500 customers a week.
During the visits, James Hall & Co shared inspiration and best practice across their retail portfolio
Peter Dodding, sales and marketing director at James Hall and Co, said: “It is vital as an independent retailer to keep improving and challenging standards and this valuable experience provided independent retailers with the opportunity to build relationships with a wide range of individuals throughout the company.
“Retailers were able to share great ideas, meet other independent retailers, suppliers and members of the SPAR Northern Guild Committee whilst also witnessing the latest in-store design concepts.”
He added: “The SPAR Northern Guild Committee meets regularly to discuss the latest industry trends, new product ranges and in-store initiatives.
“Being part of the SPAR symbol group is a fantastic way of having the independence to run your own business whilst also benefitting in continued support from James Hall, SPAR UK and other independent retailers.”
Based in Preston, James Hall & Co are currently one of the county’s largest employers, having a retail portfolio of 640 stores across the North of England.
