TORRENTIAL rain wasn't a problem for reindeers Lola and Freddie who were happy to meet young fans in Victoria Square on Saturday.
Thanks to a layer of waterproof skin beneath their fur, and some delicious lichen flown in from Holland for them to munch on, they were full of the Christmas spirit.
Reindeer handler Lydia Smith said: "Lola is a real sweetie and Freddie is a true gentleman. They're the best of friends."
She added: "Everyone's enjoyed meeting them but a couple of children asked if they were real!".
Victoria Square is transforming into a winter wonderland, with a covered ice rink, a traditional nativity scene and Santa's Grotto.
