MUSICIANS were in fine tune for a Christmas concert.

Bolton Music Service staged its popular annual Mayor of Bolton’s Children’s Christmas Concert at the beautiful Victoria Hall.

Mary Poppins and Father Christmas also dropped-by to enjoy the fun and add some extra sparkle to proceedings.

A total of 1,800 children from schools across Bolton and from Blackburn and Darwen packed the venue.

They enjoyed a mix of traditional and modern festive music ­— as well has having the opportunity to join in too including in a Christmas sing-along finale.

Songs from Mary Poppins and Polar Express were performed as well as more traditional tunes, including Twelve Days of Christmas.

Bolton Youth Orchestra and Bolton Youth Harmonies performed alongside professional musicians during the show.

Children donned their Santa hats and brought their percussion instruments to join along with the songs and music.

A morning and afternoon concert was held to ensure as many youngsters as possible enjoyed the joy of a Christmas concert. Both were attended by Mayor of Bolton Cllr Elaine Sherrington.

The special guest presenter was Tom Redmond.

The concert kicked off Bolton Music Service Christmas programme and it is not too late to enjoy one of its popular concerts.

Concert Christmas Rocks will take place on December 12 at 7pm at Horwich RMI.

The concert bands and brass band Christmas concert will take place on December 13 will be staged Victoria Hall at 6.30pm and the orchestra and strings Christmas concert will take place on December 14 at 6.30pm at Victoria Hall.
