A MAN who threatened to kill a Bolton takeaway owner has been given an interim hospital order.
Jay Smith, aged 25, of no fixed abode, had earlier pleaded guilty to making threats to kill Nasser Herez, the owner of Yummies takeaway on Bury Road.
Bolton Crown Court heard how on September 4, Smith entered Yummies and told Mr Herez: “I’m going to cut your head off.
“I’m going to kill you. I’ll slash your throat.”
In a statement, Mr Herez said: “This incident has been the most frightening experience of my life.”
Mr Herez also added that he is now on anti-depressants to cope with the memory.
At an earlier hearing Smith pleaded guilty to affray, making threats to kill and possession of a bladed article.
The court heard how Smith has seven previous convictions including battery and harassment.
Judge Graeme Smith gave the defendant an interim hospital order.
It will be reviewed in March ahead of a final sentencing.
Smith said: “I’m not mentally ill.”
However passing the order, Judge Smith said: “He poses a very real risk to the victim were he released from custody.”
