A Bolton girl has won Greater Manchester Police’s Christmas card competition.

Nikki-Louise Smith, age 12, won the age 10 to 14 category.

This year’s challenge was design a card showing communities working together to create a safe Manchester this festive season.

Nikki-Louise was selected from over 80 entries across two age categories.

She won alongside another talented artist Nyesha Kapur from Gorton, age nine.

Nyesha came first in the age nine and below category.

The two children who claimed first prize will be treated to a VIP tour of GMP facilities.

In particular, the two animal lovers will get a looking inside the Hough End premises.

They'll get to meet some police dogs and the horses from the mounted unit and .

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “Yet again we had a great number of fantastic entries to the Christmas card competition.

“I was particularly impressed with Nikki-Louise and Nyesha’s entries because they perfectly encompassed the message of Greater Manchester Police and the community working together to create a safe place for everyone within a festive and fun design.”

Nikki-Louise and her mother were also both invited to the GMP headquarters to receive thanks in person from the Chief Constable.

The Chief Constable added: “It was a pleasure to meet them both and I am sure they will enjoy meeting our mounted unit and dogs.”

The winning drawings will be digitised and sent to partner, agencies and individuals who have helped to support the GMP over the year.
