I HAVE recently written to my MP regarding not only the extremely high costs imposed by the fuel and water companies but also, what I consider to be totally unnecessary standing charges.
I have contacted my suppliers to ask why we have to pay these standing charges which can. over the year, add almost £100 to the bills.
The answer I have received beggars belief — it is industry practice.
Why should it be industry practice to add so much to our bills for no apparent reason?
My MP informs me that he has, for a long time, been concerned also about these high prices and completely unnecessary charges.
He has also written to the Energy Minister, Claire Perry MP, asking for her comments on the matter.
I would urge your readers to write either to their local MP or to Claire Perry herself to protest about the scandalous charges being imposed on hard-working consumers.
