POLICE have warned thugs throwing rocks from motorway bridges they could face attempted murder charges.
Greater Manchester Police in Eccles told followers on Twitter there had been 'several' incidents over the weekend of people aiming rocks at cars.
In one, a driver was hit in the chest by a missile.
The incidents happened from the M60 footbridge at Stannard Road in Salford.
Police wrote on the social media site: "DANGER CAUSED.
"Several incidents over the weekend of rocks thrown from M60 footbridge at Stannard Road, Brookhouse.
"One driver was hit in the chest by a rock thrown through his windscreen. All crimes will be potentially treated as Attempt Murder.
"Any information call 101 or 999."
An accompanying picture shows a Mercedes van on the hard shoulder with its front windscreen almost entirely shattered.
